The Google Business Profile website alternative

Google turned off the free websites it generated from Business Profiles in 2024, and business.site addresses now return a page-not-found error. tiama picks up where that left off: it rebuilds a one-page shop site from the Google Maps listing you already have, instead of handing you a blank template to retype everything into.

Everything on this page about Google Business Profile websites follows the Google Business Profile Help announcement: from 5 March 2024 those sites were no longer available and visitors were redirected to the Business Profile instead; after 10 June 2024 visitors get a page-not-found error; and the business.site and negocio.site domains were removed from the website field on the profile. Google has since retired that help page and redirects it to a different article, so the link below is an archived copy from February 2025 carrying the original wording. This page was checked on 25 August 2026. Tell us if anything here is out of date or wrong.

What actually happened

The site was switched off, not broken

From 5 March 2024 Google stopped providing the websites it generated from Business Profiles. This was not an outage, and there is no option to restore or extend it.

The old address is not coming back

Until 10 June 2024 visitors were still redirected to your Business Profile; after that they get a page-not-found error. The business.site and negocio.site domains were also removed from the website field on the profile.

Google did not ship a replacement

The official advice is to build a new website with another tool and then update the website field on your Business Profile, so the link in Google Maps points at the new website.

Rebuild your website in three steps

  1. Search for your business

Search for your business on the home page and pick it from the list. No sign-up and no payment needed to see the preview.

  2. Review the draft the AI put together

Your details, hours, reviews and photos are imported automatically, and the AI drafts the copy and selling points from them, so you never start from a blank page.

  3. Edit, publish, then update your profile

Adjust services, prices, photos and FAQs in the dashboard. Once published your address is something like yourshop.tiama.page — put that in the website field on your Business Profile.

When a general website builder fits better

Google shipped no replacement; its own announcement pointed people at builders such as Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, Google Sites and WordPress. So there are two routes: pick a blank template and build it yourself, or rebuild from the listing you already have. In these cases we would point you at the first one.

  • You need the site on a domain you bought. tiama currently gives you only a free address such as yourshop.tiama.page.
  • You want more than one page: a blog, an online store, or nested navigation.
  • You want to lay out every block yourself and control the design in full.
  • Your business has no physical location and no Google Maps listing to build from.

When tiama fits better

tiama is built for shops with a counter and an address. The information is already on Google Maps; what is missing is a website you can hand to a customer.

  • You want one page that says who you are, what you sell, where you are and how to reach you.
  • You do not want to retype your address, hours and menu.
  • Your customers reach you on a messaging app or by phone and need an obvious button for it, not a contact form.
  • You want to post news on the website, such as a holiday closure or a limited-time offer, with the display window set in advance.
  • You want to know whether the website works: who visited, where they came from, and whether anyone tapped a contact button.

Common questions

When were Google Business Profile websites turned off?

According to Google Business Profile Help: from 5 March 2024 those websites were no longer available and visitors were redirected to your Business Profile instead. After 10 June 2024 visitors get a page-not-found error. The business.site and negocio.site domains were also removed from the website field on the profile.

Can I get my old business.site address back?

No. It cannot be restored and it cannot be transferred to another service. What you can do is build a new site, then change the website field on your Business Profile so the link in Google Maps points at the new website.

Does Google offer a replacement free website?

No. The official advice is to build a new website with another tool and update the website field on your profile, which means the choice of tool is now yours.

Do I have to type all my information in again?

No. Search for your business and tiama imports your details, hours, reviews and photos, has the AI draft the copy from them, and nothing goes live until you review and edit it in the dashboard.

Do my Google reviews come across?

Your Google Maps reviews are imported and you pick which ones to feature on the website. The reviews themselves stay on Google; the website shows the ones you chose.

What does rebuilding cost?

The free plan builds one shop website, lets you edit it yourself, and publishes it at an address such as yourshop.tiama.page. Solo keeps that one website and adds every premium feature: monthly review and photo refreshes, announcements, analytics, and no small print in the footer. Pro raises that to up to three shop websites, refreshed up to three times a month. Monthly prices are in the table above, shown in your local currency.

How do I point Google Maps at the new address?

Edit the website field on your Google Business Profile and enter the new yourshop.tiama.page address. After that, customers arriving from Google Search and Google Maps land on your new website.

Build the website first, then decide

Search for your business and see the draft. No sign-up, no payment. Decide afterwards.
